The AE Awards project aims to support providers of Alternative Education and Youth Transition Services (such as those funded by MYD).

The project consists of four parts:

  • A strengths based Needs Assessment format developed for youth workers to use in assessing young people as they enter your programme.
  • A format for doing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) based on the Needs Assessment and turning it into a series of creative learning experiences with the young person.
  • A series of short (unit standards based) qualifications aimed at young people in AE and YTS projects, that can be reported through your own NZQA accreditation or using ours.
  • A series of (unit standards based) one and two day Professional Development Workshops aimed at training youth workers (and others) to do the first three things.

All of this is on the go at the moment, we are trialing it with a couple of providers in Porirua and Christchurch, and hope to have it ready to offer to other groups by the end of the year. We are doing the project without direct government support at the moment, so it’s going a little slower than we would have liked –but we’ll get there!

This page is still under development, we will add more info shortly, in the meantime your questions and comments are welcome, please send them to: aeawards@praxis.org.nz
