Anglican Diocese of Dunedin Educator for the under 40’s.

 

Expressions of interest are invited for this new position, building on the work and ministry of the Diocese of Dunedin Child, Youth and Family Educator.

The aim of this position is to encourage all diocesan faith communities and structures to see mission and ministry to the under 40’s as an essential priority and to provide resourcing and education for these priorities to be worked out.

This fulltime position is available for an initial 3 years, and is based in the diocese of Dunedin (Southland and Otago). Location is negotiable within the diocese and applications close February 25th 2009.

Tauranga - Youth Worker

To plan social events for the young people attending ‘Whateva!’ every 2 to 4 weeks during term time

The Youth Worker will:

· Be able to work and worship within the framework of the Methodist Church and have a calling to work with Youth.

· Have excellent communication skills and rapport with Youth.

· Have self-confidence in dealing with individuals and groups from varied backgrounds.

· Be interested in others’ welfare.

· Good time management skills.

· Committed to being a positive role model for young people.

· Be experienced in leadership/organising roles.

Qualifications in teaching, learning, theology and human sciences are an advantage but may not be essential for the appropriate applicant.

The Youth Worker’s values will match those of the Wesley congregation in the Tauranga Methodist Parish and The Methodist Church of New Zealand, Te Hāhi Weteriana O Aotearoa.

MAKE SPORT YOUR MISSION Ignite Sport Internship Opportunity (Wellington).

Ignite Sport Trust provides opportunities for people to reach their God-given potential both in sport and life. Many have been given a wonderful ‘gift’ as an athlete or you may simply have a very keen interest in sport and recreation. Ignite Sport has developed a full-time internship program for people who have a passion for young people and a desire to bring sport and mission together. The internship programme will provide opportunities to use the power of sport to serve local communities, schools and clubs; make a positive difference in the lives of young people and share the reality of Christ in a relevant and meaningful way. Interns will be involved in running and helping develop a variety of sports initiatives in 2008 which will include sports academies and holiday programmes, coaching and mentoring and a wide range of sport specific events, all run from a distinctive Christian mission perspective
