How do I apply for enrolment?

Application Requirements for international students:

  • Application for enrolment with Praxis must be made through one of our ICY partners.
  • Applicants must have had some involvement (paid or voluntary) in youth work/youth ministry in their own country 
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over and be competent in English (see language requiements).
  • Once an offer of study is made, applicants must complete all NZ Immigration requirements and provide Praxis with proof of a current visa for the proposed period of study.
  • All enrolled students must have travel and health insurance that covers the length of their stay in NZ.
  • Arrangements for accommodation must be approved by the Praxis Student Services Co-ordinator.
  • A deposit must be paid on enrolment, the balance of your fees must be paid upon arrival.
  • We would ask you to plan to arrive in New Zealand 3-5 days before the start of your course so we can complete an orientation and make sure you are settled in your accommodation.

Application Process

Please be aware that this process (including visa applications) normally takes 4-6 weeks . This process must be completed before the start of the course (which is normally early February each year)

Step 1 (You)

To begin the process please email neo@praxis.org.nz with the following details (maximum one page)

  • Your full name & age
  • Your involvment in youth work and why you are interested in this course
  • The church or organisation that you have done your work with 

Step 2 (Us)

We will consider your email and send you application and reference forms for you to make a formal application

Step 3 (You)

You send back application and reference and reference forms

Step 4 (Us)

We will consider your formal application, and if it is successful, will contact you (in writing) and offer you a place on the course.
We will also send the following information for you to complete your enrolment:

  • Offer of study letter and form
  • Student Information Sheet
  • Tuition Agreement

Step 5 (You)

To complete enrolment:

  • Complete the Student Information Sheet and
  • Complete the tuition agreement
  • Send both in with your deposit
  • Apply for your visa

Step 6 (Us)

Once Step 3 is completed we will work with you to finalise arrangements for:

  • Accommodation
  • Where you will do your practical work
  • Who will be your course supervisor

Step 7 (on your arrival)

  • A member of our team will meet you at the airport and provide local transport to where you are staying (make sure you have let us know your travel timetable).
  • We will provide you with an information pack about New Zealand, about the region that you will live in, and services available to you.
  • A member of our team will complete an orientation over the next 2-3 days.
