Purpose: Participants are able to describe a strengths based model of assessing the needs of young people (using a provided format) and use participatory approaches to applying it in their own practice with young people.
Delivery: A one day workshop, with follow up workbook and three follow up cluster group meetings (each is compulsory).
Assessment: Complete the workbook (which includes doing needs assessments with some of your own clients). Reflect on your progress at cluster group meetings and send samples of your work in for final assessment.
Purpose: Participants are able to use a supplied format to design, implement and evaluate an Individual Development Plan (IDP) with a young person based on an assessment of their needs. They are able to create and evaluate small group and individual learning experiences based on the IDP plan.
Delivery: A two day workshop, with follow up practical work, reflection on action in a journal and with your cluster group over three follow up meetings (each is compulsory).
Assessment: A workbook requiring you to develop, implement and review an IDP with some of your clients, plus a peer reviewed creative learning activity.
Purpose: Participants are able to prepare for and conduct assessments of level 1 and 2 unit standards within the context of learning experiences typical to an Alternative Education or transition to work programme with young people. They are able to complete record keeping requirements and report results back to an umbrella body.
Delivery: A two day workshop, with follow up practical work and two cluster group meetings.
Assessment: Complete a unit standards based assessment with a client. Reflect on the process, report results and participate (in cluster groups) in an moderation exercise.
