Put them banners and matches away (for now), TEC have come back to us and agreed that there will be a funding round that we (and other groups) can apply to.
This is good news as we believe we can make a strong case for funding -and as a result of your support and pressure TEC have informally confirmed as much to us. At this stage we think that street protests (burning cars, mutilating politicians and things) will probably be counter-productive as we get into a negotiation process with them.
1. Is to take this attached petition into your local youth work, church and community organisation networks and ask people to sign it.
The petition is supposed to close this week, but we have asked the National Network to extend the deadline to the end of July to help us get more support. Even an extra half dozen signatures will be a big help!
2. Meet with your local politician
If you have already got a meeting with a politician scheduled, please go ahead with it as planned, but it would be most helpful to express our concern over the time delay for us to begin the application process (we are told that it might be a wee way off), and the resulting uncertainty for current and prospective students. If we can keep the pressure on in this area that will be real useful.
And of course please say a prayer!
