Praxis NZ is go!

Thank you for your prayers and support, we have received the go ahead from TEC for funding for the 2010 Praxis course: more information.

Looking to train in youthwork next year?

We have been given funding for a limited number of places for next year's courses! In 2010 we are offering both a Certificate at level 4 and a 2-year Diploma at level 6 (this will lead into the new degree in youth development which is currently being developed by the Social Services ITO). We are now open for applications for both courses and ask that you send your application into when you are ready at either: neo@praxis.org.nz or PO Box 6834, Marion Square, Wellington, New Zealand, 6141

The application form and the prospectus can be found on our website www.praxis.org.nz they will give you all the information you need to decide whether this is the course for you.

Please remember that you will need to apply with the endorsement of an agency (church or organisation working in the community) so talk with them about your application.

We are asking that applications get to us before the end of November if at all possible so that we can work out where students will be next year and which course they wish to do, plus as there are only limited places we may need to create a waiting list if people apply after December 1st.

After receiving your application we will get back to you to arrange an interview. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions to paul@praxis.org.nz in the meantime.

Praxis Victoria (Australia) is go !

Ola Fou Update

Ola Fou Block 3 and the Pacific Youth Development Forum is happening in Fiji in November. Contact Lloyd@praxis.org.nz if you would like more info about the Forum (10-13 of November), this year we plan to focus on the challenges of responding to the needs of young people who are in transition from village life to living in the rapidly growing settlements (squatter communities) in urban areas around the Pacific.

We are very excited to announce the development of a Code of Ethics for youth work in the Pacific Islands. Asinate from the Ola Fou team has been hard at work consulting with other groups around the Pacific and this second version of the Code is offered for further comment and feedback. We gratefully acknowledge the work done by the National Youth Workers Network Aotearoa, on which the Pacific code is based. Please contact Asinate on positivemnd@gmail.com for more information.
