Full time courses run on the calendar year (February to November). The NZ Tertiary Education Commission places a limit on the number of places available in our full time courses. We encourage you to apply as early as possible -applications for 2021 will open in September (and close February 1st). We will accept people based on a first come/first serve basis (once enrolment requirements as listed below are completed). Once a course is full we will offer to wait-list you in case someone else pulls out.

Follow the steps below to apply for either the Praxis Certificate or Diploma.

  1. You will need to get these THREE things back to us to start the process.

    • Application Form. Fill in the online application

    • Agency Letter of Support . This is a a letter from your Agency (the group that you plan to do your practical placement with)

    • Cover Letter. This is letter from you about your previous experience in working with young people and your reasons for wanting to do the course (this can also be completed as part of the online form).

  2. We will contact you about meeting for an interview. It is fine if you want to bring whānau or a support person to your interview, if we can talk to a person from your proposed Agency as part of the interview it makes things a lot easier.

    • We will check out your references from the application form before we meet.

    • At the interview you will be asked to disclose whether you have any convictions (this will be followed up with a police vetting form)

  3. We will aim to let you know within a week if you have been accepted for the course (this will depend on the number of places available)

  4. If you have been accepted we will give you an Offer of Study Letter and an Enrolment Pack. You will need the Offer of Study letter to apply for Students Loans and Allowances.

  5. You will need to confirmed that you want to take up the Offer of Study AND complete your Enrolment Form. Once we have received this, your place on the course is confirmed. Please note that it is not confirmed until this point and is pending the return of your police vetting form.

We will have an orientation event for students in your area before course gets under way. This is an important opportunity for you to meet other people and get any final course information.
