Full time courses run on the calendar year (February to November). The NZ Tertiary Education Commission places a limit on the number of places available in our full time courses. We encourage you to apply as early as possible -applications for 2020 are NOW OPEN (and close February 1st). We will accept people based on a first come/first serve basis (once enrolment requirements as listed below are completed). Once a course is full we will offer to wait-list you in case someone else pulls out.

Follow the steps below to apply for either the Praxis Certificate or Diploma.

  1. You will need to get these THREE things back to us to start the process.

    • Application Form. Fill in the online application

    • Agency Letter of Support . This is a a letter from your Agency (the group that you plan to do your practical placement with)

    • Cover Letter. This is letter from you about your previous experience in working with young people and your reasons for wanting to do the course (this can also be completed as part of the online form).

  2. We will contact you about meeting for an interview. You will need to bring a person along from your proposed agency.

    • We will check out your references from the application form before we meet.

    • At the interview you will be asked to disclose whether you have any convictions (this will be followed up with a police vetting form on enrolment day)

  3. We will aim to let you know within a week if you have been accepted for the course (this will depend on the number of places available)

  4. We will give you an Offer of Study pack if you have been accepted on the course. This will have the Offer of Study letter you will need to start the application process for Students Loans and Allowances.

  5. You will need to attend an enrolment day with your agency rep and 2 forms of ID. Your coordinator will confirm the date and details for this closer to the time.

Once you have confirmed that you want to take up the Offer of Study AND we have your completed enrolment, your place on the course is confirmed with a letter of acceptance  (please note that it is not confirmed until this point and is pending the return of your police vetting form).

We will have an orientation event for students in your area before course gets under way. This is an important opportunity for you to meet other people and get any final course information.
