Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice
Youth Development and AE specialist strands
This specialist strand of the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Practice is designed specifically for practitioners (in youth work, community and alternative education settings) who wish to study part-time. It is delivered by Praxis in partnership with Whitireia Polytechnic. We are currently awaiting final approval from NZQA for this programme.
The programme will be taught as two short courses. Each course will be taught through a mix of online and face to face delivery. Delivery will include 2-3 face to face wananga/workshops, plus (weekly) online classes over 15 weeks. The courses are designed for people who are already in full time work, so workshops will be scheduled for during the secondary school holidays, and the online classes will be taught in small groups at times that work best for the majority of participants. In the event of further lockdown restrictions, the face to face wananga will be replaced by online workshops.
As the assessment for each course will require interactions with young people and teams a special entry requirement for this strand is that you have a suitable practice context available (this can be in a paid or a voluntary role). Successful graduates may also gain credits towards a Master’s degree through this programme.
