Beach Clean
Youth from Zeal Wellington are exploring what it means to be active citizens – and giving back to the environment at the same time
Young people from Zeal Wellington wanted to give back to their community. They decided (with support from their Youth Worker) to spend some time at a local beach doing a beach clean. In the process of being active citizens, the youth became further aware of how community actions impacted the environment. The local community also got to see them in action, and were impressed at their efforts to make the beach a better environment.
One young person shared “to be honest it made me feel better about myself. People talked to us normally… and I learned that we can do things to help out in society.”
